01-01-2026: Election of PPC and PFC Members – Ukkinadka Church
The election of new PPC Vice President, Secretary, Deanery Representatives and PFC Members of Ukkinadka Church was held in December 2025.The newly elected members took charge on January 1st, 2026 during the New Year Mass after taking the oath of office. The election was conducted peacefully with the cooperation of all parishioners. We thank the outgoing members for their service and pray for God’s blessings on the new team.
19-01-2026 New Borewell and Pump Installation
A new borewell was drilled and a pump set installed in the church premises on 19th January 2026 to address the water needs of the parish. The work was carried out under the supervision of the Parish Priest and the Parish Finance Committee. The borewell was blessed and inaugurated on the same day. This new facility will ensure a reliable water supply for the church, presbytery, and parish activities, especially during the summer months. We thank all the parishioners and donors who supported this project through their generous contributions.
22-01-2026: Parish Priest Birthday & St. Vincent Pallotti Feast Day Celebration
The birthday of Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Sunil Miranda and the Feast of St. Vincent Pallotti were celebrated together on 22nd January 2026 in Ukkinadka Church. A solemn Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration was held on Sunday at 8:00 AM. The PPC, PFC, Sodality members, and parishioners felicitated Fr. Sunil Miranda after Mass and prayed for his health and ministry. The life and mission of St. Vincent Pallotti, founder of the Pallottine Fathers and patron of the Catholic Apostolate, was also commemorated. The programme concluded with a short fellowship and cake cutting. We thank God for the gift of our Parish Priest and seek St. Vincent Pallotti’s intercession for our parish.
24-25 January Kalotsav-2026
Our parishioners children and youth actively participated in Kalotsav-2026, held on 24th and 25th January 2026.With the guidance of Sunday School teachers and youth animators, our participants excelled in various events and won many prizes in singing, dance, skit, drawing, and elocution. The PPC and parishioners congratulated all the winners and participants for bringing honour to Ukkinadka Parish. We thank the parents, teachers, and animators for their dedication and support. May God bless our children to grow in faith and talents.
25-01-2026: The Word of God Sunday
The Sunday of the Word of God was celebrated on 25th January 2026 in Ukkinadka Church with great devotion. During the 8:30 AM Mass, the Holy Bible was enthroned and incensed, highlighting the importance of Scripture in Christian life. Parish Priest Fr. Sunil Miranda stressed the need to read, reflect, and live the Word of God daily. Sunday School children and youth conducted the Liturgy of the Word. Bibles were distributed to families who did not have one. Parishioners were encouraged to make the Word of God the centre of their family prayer and life.
FEBRUARY 2026
18-02-2026: Ash Wednesday and Way of the cross by 4 Wards and Organizations
Ash Wednesday marking the beginning of Lent was observed on 18th February 2026 in Ukkinadka Church. The solemn Eucharistic Celebration with the blessing and imposition of ashes was held at 7:30 AM. Parish Priest Fr. Sunil Miranda invited the faithful to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving during the Lenten season. Every Friday of the lent the Way of the Cross was conducted by 4 wards and parish organizations. Each group animated the stations with reflections, hymns, and prayers, helping the faithful meditate on the Passion of Christ. The parishioners participated devoutly in large numbers, entering into the spirit of Lent.
MARCH 2026
08-03-2026: International Women’s Day Celebration.
International Women’s Day was celebrated in Ukkinadka Parish on 8th March 2026 with gratitude for the role of women in family, church, and society. The 8:30 AM Holy Mass was offered for all women of the parish. The liturgy was animated by the Women’s Sodality. Parish Priest Fr. Sunil Miranda highlighted the dignity of women and the example of Mother Mary in his homily. After Mass, a short felicitation programme was held in the church hall. Games, cultural items, and a talk on “Women in the Light of the Gospel” were organized. All women were honoured with a flower and a token of appreciation. The PPC thanked the women for their dedicated service to the parish and family.
March 14-15, The Annual Lenten Retreat
The Annual Lenten Retreat of Ukkinadka Parish was held on 14th and 15th March 2026 as spiritual preparation for Easter. The retreat was preached by Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Rodrigues and focused on the theme “Return to the Lord with all your heart” (Joel 2:12). Sessions included talks, Praise & Worship, Adoration, Way of the Cross, and Sacrament of Confession. Large numbers of parishioners attended both days and experienced renewal of faith. The retreat concluded with a Holy Mass and special anointing prayer. We thank God for this time of grace and thank the preacher, PPC, and volunteers who organized the retreat.
12-03-2026: Legion of Mary members conducted a Lenten outreach
On 12 March 2026, the Legion of Mary of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka, conducted a Lenten outreach by visiting Assisi Snehalaya (Home for the Aged) and the Model Child Rehabilitation Center. Members spent time with the elderly and children through prayer, interaction, and support, sharing love and compassion. The visit reflected the Gospel call to serve those in need.
22-03-2026: Father’s Day celebration
Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka, celebrated Father’s Day on Sunday, 22 March 2026, with devotion and joy. The celebration began with the Way of the Cross at 8:00 AM, followed by the Holy Mass at 8:30 AM. The event was dedicated to honoring fathers and praying for families, drawing inspiration from St. Joseph, the patron saint of fathers. Parishioners gathered to thank and appreciate the role of fathers in nurturing faith and family life. The celebration emphasized the message that a father’s love reflects God’s love, encouraging all to follow the virtues of St. Joseph.

02-04-2026: Holy Thursday Celebration
Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka solemnly celebrated the Maundy Thursday Ceremony on 2nd April 2026 at 4:00 PM with deep devotion and reverence. The celebration commemorated the institution of the Holy Eucharist, the Priesthood, and the Washing of the Feet by Jesus Christ as a sign of humility and service. Parishioners gathered prayerfully to participate in the sacred liturgy and reflect on Christ’s message of love, sacrifice, and service. The ceremony became a meaningful spiritual experience for the faithful of the parish.
April 2-5 Holy Week 2026
Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka prayerfully observed Holy Week 2026 with devotion and spiritual fervour. The faithful gathered for the Maundy Thursday Holy Eucharist, commemorating the institution of the Eucharist and Priesthood. On Good Friday, parishioners participated in the Way of the Cross and the solemn evening service reflecting on the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ. The Holy Week celebrations concluded with the Easter Vigil Holy Mass held at the Mother Mary Grotto, joyfully celebrating the Resurrection of the Lord. The entire parish community actively took part in the sacred liturgies, making the Holy Week celebrations a meaningful spiritual journey of faith and prayer.
11-04-2026: One day Children’s Summer Camp
Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka organized a joyful One Day Children’s Camp on 11th April 2026 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The camp brought together children for a day filled with games, activities, songs, fun, and learning in a faith-filled atmosphere. Various interactive sessions and group activities helped the children develop friendship, teamwork, and spiritual values. The program was well appreciated by parents and participants, making it a memorable and enriching experience for all the children.

02-05-2026 Parish Priest 12th Ordination celebration:
Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka joyfully celebrated the 12th Ordination Anniversary of Rev. Fr. Sunil Miranda SAC with a Thanksgiving Mass and cake cutting ceremony. The Holy Eucharist was offered in gratitude to God for Fr. Sunil’s dedicated priestly ministry and service to the parish community. Parishioners, family members, and well-wishers participated prayerfully in the celebration and extended their heartfelt wishes to him. Following the Mass, a cake cutting ceremony was held, adding joy and fellowship to the occasion. The celebration concluded with prayers and gratitude for Fr. Sunil’s continued service in the vineyard of the Lord.
02-05-2026 The election of the ICYM unit:
The election of the ICYM unit of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka was held on 2nd May 2026 in a prayerful and democratic atmosphere. The program began with a prayer seeking God’s guidance for the new leadership team. Youth members actively participated in the election process and selected the new office bearers for the year. Rev. Fr. Sunil Miranda SAC encouraged the youth to work with unity, dedication, and leadership in strengthening the parish and society. The newly elected members expressed their gratitude and commitment to serve the Church and the youth with enthusiasm and responsibility.
16-05-2026 First Holy Communion:
The First Holy Communion of Sheldon Crasta was joyfully celebrated on 16-05-2026 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka in a prayerful and festive atmosphere. Sheldon received Jesus in the Holy Eucharist for the first time, marking an important milestone in his spiritual journey. Family members, relatives, and parishioners gathered to witness and celebrate this blessed occasion. The ceremony was filled with devotion, joy, and gratitude, making it a memorable day for Sheldon and his family.
17-05-2026 Parish Day Celebration
Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka celebrated its 87th Parish Day and 15 years of Pallottines presence on 17th May 2026 with devotion and joy. The celebration included the Holy Rosary, Thanksgiving Mass, cultural programs, and fellowship activities. Newly ordained Pallottine priests were honoured, and various performances by children, ward members, and ICYM added colour to the celebration. The event concluded with a fellowship meal, strengthening faith, unity, and gratitude among the parish community.
31-05-2026 Farewell to Rev. Fr. Sunil Miranda SAC
On 31st May 2026, the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka, organized a farewell programme for Rev. Fr. Sunil Miranda SAC in appreciation of his dedicated service as Parish Priest for the past three years.
Fr. Sunil was honored by the PPC Vice President, PPC Secretary, All Association Coordinator, and the four Gurkars. In his farewell address, he thanked the parishioners for their love, support, and cooperation throughout his ministry. The programme was followed by the Holy Mass, where the parish community prayed for God’s blessings upon him in his future mission.
