Parish activities of the Year 2025
January 2025
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka, celebrated the New Year with an Adoration ceremony on December 31st, followed by a Midnight Mass marking the beginning of the new year. The congregation gathered for a special Morning Mass on January 1st, expressing gratitude and seeking God's guidance. The celebrations reflected the community's strong faith and devotion, fostering unity and spiritual renewal. Through prayer and worship, the community welcomed the new year with hope and joy.
Our church participated in the Kalostva 2025 cultural fest, organized by ICYM Kasargod Vicariate and CKYM Kayyar Unit, held on January 11-12 at Kayyar Church grounds. We secured several prizes in various competitions, showcasing our talent and creativity.

The event featured music, dance performances, comedy, and ramp walks, with renowned judges from Kasargod and Mangaluru. The fest was attended by distinguished guests, including film actors, police officials, and philanthropists.
The Feast of St. Vincent Pallotti was celebrated by parishioners on January 26, 2025, however, St. Vincent Pallotti's actual feast day is typically commemorated on January 22. The celebration included a special Mass led by Rev. Fr. Jaison Dsouza, SAC, with Rev. Fr. Sunil Miranda, SAC, as the Parish Priest. The event featured prayers, reflections on St. Vincent Pallotti's life and legacy, and fostered a sense of community and spiritual renewal among parishioners.
Our parish actively participated in the Bondel Fest Inter Diocese Parishes and achieved a notable success by securing Second Prize in the Variety Entertainment category. This accomplishment showcases the talent and creativity of our parishioners, highlighting the strong bond and commitment to community engagement.
February 2025
Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka, joyfully celebrated Confraternity Sunday on February 16, 2025. The main celebrant, Rev. Fr. John Prakash Pereira, was joined by the Parish Priest, making the occasion a memorable one for the parishioners. March 2025
The Annual Catechism Exam for students took place on March 9, 2025, marking an important milestone in their faith journey. The exam provided an opportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding of Catholic teachings and values, and we wish them all the best in their spiritual growth and academic endeavours.
The ICYM Ukkinadka Unit, along with the ICYM Animator and PPC Vice President, visited Ashram Pallotti Shanthidhama in Dornahalli on March 7-9, 2025. During their visit, they likely interacted with the residents, offered support, and engaged in activities that promoted the well-being of the destitute and elderly. This visit embodies the spirit of service and compassion, reflecting the mission of rebuilding lives through unconditional love and humble service.
Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Ukkinadka, celebrated Women's Day on March 8 is typically celebrated but here the date is 10-3-2025, honoring the remarkable women in the parish. The event likely featured special prayers, tributes, and recognition of women's invaluable contributions to the community and society.
The Annual Lenten Retreat was held at Ukkinadka Church from March 22-23, 2025, led by Rev. Fr. John Pereira SAC and his team. The retreat was a deeply spiritual experience, featuring adoration, confession, Holy Eucharist, prayer, and prayer dance. These elements likely helped participants to reflect, renew, and deepen their faith during the Lenten season.
The Catholic Sabha of Ukkinadka Unit successfully organized a Voviyo competition for parishioners, with seven enthusiastic teams participating. The event was well-coordinated and witnessed the presence of Parish Priest Fr. Sunil Miranda, SAC, and Deanery Catholic Sabha members. This initiative likely fostered community spirit, friendly competition, and camaraderie among participants.
Ukkinadka Stree Sangatan organized a meaningful pilgrimage and Stations of the Cross at various Deanery parishes. 20-06-2025: Konkanni Hymn Competition in honor of the Feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The ICYM unit of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church organized a Konkanni Hymn Competition in honor of the Feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus. 27-06-2025: Ukkinadka celebrates dual blessing: Mother Mary Grotto inauguration & feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Ukkinadka celebrated a significant milestone with the inauguration of its newly built Mother Mary Grotto, coinciding with the feast day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The ceremony was blessed by Fr. Sunil Miranda, parish priest of Ukkinadka, and featured special rituals, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Fr. Claudy Vas and curtain unveiling by Fr. JULY 2025
6-7-2025 Jubilee of Laudato si (Vanamahostva)
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Ukkinadka celebrated the Laudato Si' Jubilee, organized by the ICYM Ukkinadka Unit, with an eco-friendly initiative. The event involved distributing plants to key parish leaders, including the Parish Priest, Vice President, Secretary, 21 commission coordinator and ICYM Animator. Additionally, a tree-planting ceremony, known as "Vanamahotsava," was conducted, promoting environmental stewardship and reflecting the spirit of Pope Francis' encyclical on care for creation.
27-7-2025 Jubilee of Grandparents
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Ukkinadka celebrated Grandparents Day Jubilee on July 27, 2025, organized by the ICYM Ukkinadka Unit. This special event likely honoured the wisdom, love, and contributions of grandparents in the community, fostering intergenerational connections and gratitude. AUGUST 2025
August 04–08: Annual Sarthi (Cleaning of Church Compound)
From August 4th to 8th, the Annual Sarthi programme was carried out in our parish. During these days, parishioners generously came forward to clean and maintain the church compound. This collective effort reflected the spirit of responsibility, unity, and love for our parish. The initiative not only beautified the surroundings but also strengthened the bond among the faithful through dedicated service.
03-08-2025: A Cancer Awareness program was held organised by the Catholic Sabha Ukkinadka Unit
A Cancer Awareness program was held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Ukkinadka on August 3, organized by the Catholic Sabha Ukkinadka Unit. Chief guests included Rev. Fr. Sunil Miranda SAC, PPC Vice President, PPC Secretary, Amitha and the Catholic Sabha President. Representatives from Care and Safe India delivered an informative address on cancer prevention, early detection, and support. The event drew a large crowd and included breakfast for attendees, promoting health awareness and community well-being.
03-08-2025: Jubilee of the Priest
The Priesthood Jubilee at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Ukkinadka on August 3, organized by the ICYM Ukkinadka Unit, began with Eucharistic Adoration and a Holy Mass. The celebration honoured priests who served in the parish and those serving elsewhere. A cake-cutting ceremony followed, with cake distributed to all, expressing gratitude for the priests' dedication and ministry.
10-8-2025: Jubilee of Youth Day celebration
The Jubilee of Youth Day was celebrated on August 10 in our parish with great joy and gratitude. The celebration began with a special prayer service, thanking God for the gift of our youth and reflecting on their vital role in building a vibrant and faith-filled community. The parish recognized and appreciated the value, leadership, and commitment of the young people, encouraging them to continue witnessing Christ in today’s world. The celebration included the cutting of a cake by the youth representatives and the parish priest, followed by fellowship, making the occasion meaningful and inspiring for all.
15-8-2025: Independence Day celebration flag hoisting ceremony was held in the parish.
Independence Day was solemnly celebrated in our parish with a flag hoisting ceremony. The parish priest hoisted the national flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The gathering reflected on the values of freedom, unity, and patriotism, and special prayers were offered for our nation and its leaders. The celebration inspired everyone to work together for peace, harmony, and the progress of our country.
16 & 17 August 2025: Pastoral Visit of our Bishop to our Parish
Our parish was blessed with the pastoral visit of our Bishop on 16th and 17th August. During his visit, he celebrated the Holy Eucharist, met with various parish groups, and interacted warmly with the faithful. He encouraged the community to grow stronger in faith, unity, and service. His inspiring message and fatherly presence brought joy and spiritual renewal to our parish, making the visit a memorable and grace-filled occasion for all.
17-08-2025: Thirteen students received the Confirmation by our Bishop
On 17th August, thirteen students of our parish received the Sacrament of Confirmation from our Bishop. Through this sacred sacrament, they were strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit and renewed in their commitment to live as faithful witnesses of Christ. It was a grace-filled and joyous occasion for the candidates, their families, and the entire parish community.
24-08-2025: Jubilee of Altar Servers Day and Mariyal Sodality Day Celebration
On August 24, our parish joyfully celebrated the Jubilee of Altar Servers Day and Mariyal Sodality Day with prayer and gratitude. We thanked God for the dedicated service of our altar servers and appreciated their commitment at the Lord’s altar. The members of the Mariyal Sodality were also recognized for their devotion to Mother Mary and their active participation in parish life. The celebration highlighted their valuable contribution to the spiritual growth of our community and concluded with fellowship and joy.
30-08-2025: Nine Days novenas to Nativity of our Lady (Monthi Feast)
The Nine Days Novena in preparation for the Nativity of Our Lady (Monthi Feast) began on August 30 in our parish with deep devotion and prayer. Each day, the faithful gathered to seek the intercession of Mother Mary, reflecting on her virtues and entrusting their intentions to her loving care. The novena created a spirit of unity and spiritual renewal among the parishioners as we prepared to celebrate the joyous feast of our Blessed Mother.
SEPTEMBER 2025
07-09-2025: ICYM unit organised Uthsav-2025 (Onam Feast)
The ICYM unit of our parish organized Uthsav–2025, the Onam Feast celebration, on 7th September with great enthusiasm and joy. The programme featured various fun-filled games conducted among four groups, fostering teamwork and healthy competition. The tug of war was a major highlight of the day, drawing loud cheers and excitement from everyone. The celebration concluded with a festive Onam meal, bringing together all participants in a spirit of unity, fellowship, and cultural celebration.
8-9-2025: Feast Day of nativity of Mother Mary was celebrated.
The Feast of the Nativity of Mother Mary was solemnly celebrated in our parish on 8th September with great devotion and joy. The faithful gathered to honor the birth of our Blessed Mother and to seek her loving intercession. The celebration included the Holy Eucharist and special prayers, filling the parish with a spirit of gratitude and Marian devotion. It was a meaningful occasion that strengthened the faith and unity of our community.
14-09-2025: Pallottine Mission Sunday celebration and in honour of 75 years of Pallottine presence in India and plating the plants.
Pallottine Mission Sunday was celebrated in our parish on 14th September with joy and gratitude, marking 75 years of Pallottine presence in India. We thanked God for the dedicated missionary service and spiritual guidance offered over the years. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by the Mission Secretary of the Province, Rev. Fr. Manohar, whose presence made the occasion more meaningful. Special prayers were offered for the missions, and saplings were planted in the parish campus as a symbol of growth and continued commitment to the Church’s mission. The celebration inspired the faithful to renew their missionary zeal and spirit of service.
21-09-2025: Bible Quiz at Deanery level we secured First prize
Our parish proudly participated in the Deanery Level Bible Quiz competition and secured the First Prize. The achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and deep knowledge of the participants. It was a proud and joyful moment for our parish community, encouraging everyone to grow deeper in their understanding and love of the Word of God.
28-09-2025: Feast day celebration by St Vincent De Paul Association Members
On 28th September 2025, the members of the St. Vincent De Paul Association celebrated their feast day with devotion and joy. The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist, during which special prayers were offered for the members and their charitable mission.

01-10-2025: Rosary Month
On 1st October 2025, our parish began the observance of the Rosary Month with devotion and prayer. The faithful gathered to seek the intercession of Mother Mary through the recitation of the Holy Rosary. This special month encourages families and parishioners to grow deeper in faith, unity, and Marian devotion through daily prayer.
05-10-2025: Annual Vehicle Blessings was held in our Parish after the mass.
On 5th October 2025, the Annual Vehicle Blessing was held in our parish after the Holy Mass. Parishioners brought their vehicles to seek God’s protection and blessings for safe journeys throughout the year. The parish priest offered special prayers and blessed each vehicle, reminding everyone to drive responsibly and trust in the Lord’s guidance and care.
06-10-2025: Mangalore Pallottine Local Community Meeting
The Mangalore Pallottine Local Community Meeting was held at Ukkinadka Church on 6 October 2025. Priests and Deacons from the local Pallottine community gathered for the meeting to discuss pastoral matters and strengthen their fraternal bonds. On this occasion, Fr. Sunil Miranda graciously hosted the gathering and provided a good meal for all the participants, fostering a spirit of fellowship and community.
07-10-2025: Legion of Mary and Stree Sangatan members conducted outdoor ROSARY.
On 7th October 2025, the members of the Legion of Mary and Stree Sangatan conducted an outdoor Rosary with deep devotion and reverence. The faithful gathered together to pray the Holy Rosary, seeking the intercession of Mother Mary for peace in families and the parish community. 12-10-2025: Elocution Competition was held for the students Conducted by Catholic Sabha Ukkinadka Unit.
On 12th October 2025, an Elocution Competition was conducted for students by the Catholic Sabha, Ukkinadka Unit. The participants confidently expressed their thoughts on meaningful topics, showcasing their talents and communication skills. The competition encouraged students to develop public speaking abilities and strengthened their confidence and knowledge. It was a successful and inspiring event for all.
19-10-2025: Mission Sunday was conducted on this day. 38215 was collected and sent to the diocese of Mangalore.
Mission Sunday was observed in our parish on 19th October 2025 with prayer and generosity. The faithful actively participated in supporting the mission work of the Church. On this occasion, a total amount of ₹38,215 was collected and sent to the Diocese of Mangalore for missionary activities. The day reminded everyone of our shared responsibility in spreading the Good News and supporting the missions.
19-10-2025: Legion of Mary Annual gathering at our parish
On 19th October 2025, the Legion of Mary held its Annual Gathering at our parish with devotion and unity. Members came together for prayer, reflection, and fellowship, renewing their commitment to serve the Church through Marian spirituality. The gathering strengthened their faith and encouraged them to continue their dedicated apostolic work in the parish community.
31-10-2025: ICYM members conducted outdoor ROSARY.
On 31st October 2025, the ICYM members conducted an outdoor Rosary with great devotion and enthusiasm. The youth gathered together to pray the Holy Rosary, seeking the intercession of Mother Mary for peace and blessings upon the parish and families. The prayerful gathering reflected their strong faith and active participation during the Rosary Month.

01-11-2025: ‘All Saints Day’ feast was Celebrated.
On 1st November 2025, the Feast of All Saints’ Day was solemnly celebrated in our parish. The faithful gathered for the Holy Eucharist to honour all the saints who have attained heavenly glory. The celebration reminded everyone of our universal call to holiness and inspired the parish community to follow the example of the saints in faith, love, and service.
02-11-2025: All Souls Day was celebrated.
On 2nd November 2025, All Souls’ Day was solemnly observed in our parish. Two Holy Masses were celebrated for the faithful departed, remembering and praying for their eternal rest. The Rosary was recited in the cemetery, followed by the blessing of the cemetery. The day was marked by prayer, remembrance, and hope in the resurrection, bringing comfort to the faithful.
02-11-2025: Drawing Competition for Children conducted by ICYM
On 2nd November 2025, the ICYM organized a Drawing Competition for the children of our parish. The young participants enthusiastically showcased their creativity and artistic talents through meaningful themes. The competition encouraged imagination and active involvement, making it a joyful and engaging event for the children.
09-11-2025: Volleyball and Throw ball match competitions at deanery level were held.
On 9th November 2025, the Deanery Level Volleyball and Throw Ball competitions were held with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Teams from various parishes participated actively, showcasing their talent, teamwork, and competitive spirit. The event fostered unity and fellowship among the youth and encouraged healthy sporting activities within the deanery.
26-11-2025: Children’s Day celebration was held.
On 26th November 2025, Children’s Day was joyfully celebrated in our parish. The programme highlighted the talents and innocence of our children through various activities and performances. The celebration brought happiness and encouragement to the young ones, reminding everyone of the importance of nurturing them in faith, love, and values.
23-11-2025: YATHRIK PAYANN Vailekannur SVP members
On 23rd November 2025, the SVP members organized a Yathrik Payann to Vailekannur. The pilgrimage provided an opportunity for spiritual reflection, prayer, and fellowship among the members. It was a meaningful experience that strengthened their faith and renewed their commitment to serve the needy with compassion and dedication.
30-11-2025: Saints Fancy Dress Competitions and Quiz competition on Saints life
On 30th November 2025, Saints Fancy Dress Competition and a Quiz Competition on the lives of the Saints were conducted in our parish. The children enthusiastically dressed as various saints, beautifully presenting their lives and virtues. The quiz competition helped participants deepen their knowledge about the saints and their inspiring journeys of faith. The programme was both educational and inspiring, encouraging everyone to imitate the holiness and dedication of the saints.
DECEMBER 2025
18-21 December 2025: Caroling to House to house was held.
From 18th to 21st December 2025, Christmas caroling was conducted in our parish. Parish members went house to house singing joyful Christmas hymns and sharing the message of love, peace, and hope of the birth of Jesus. The caroling brought festive cheer to families and strengthened the spirit of unity and celebration within the parish community.
22-12-2025: Star making competition by Legion of Mary members
On 22nd December 2025, the Legion of Mary members organized a Star Making Competition in our parish. Participants creatively designed and prepared beautiful Christmas stars, symbolizing the Star of Bethlehem and the joy of Christ’s birth. The competition encouraged creativity, teamwork, and active participation, adding festive spirit to the Christmas celebrations. The competition was judged by Rev. Fr. Naveen and Deacon Joyson, who appreciated the creativity and devotion shown by all the participants.
25-12-2025: Crib making competition by Stree Sangatan
On 25th December 2025, a Crib Making Competition was organized by the Stree Sangatan in our parish. The participants beautifully prepared creative and meaningful cribs, depicting the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. The competition enhanced the Christmas spirit and highlighted the importance of reflecting on the humble and joyful message of Christ’s Nativity.The competition was judged by Rev. Fr. Naveen and Deacon Joyson, who appreciated the creativity and devotion shown by all the participants.
23-12-2025: Distribution of Christmas Cakes
On 23rd December 2025, Christmas cakes were distributed to various local officials and institutions, including three Panchayath members, KEB staff, Police officials, RTO office, Masjid, Temple, Hospital, and others.
This gesture was carried out to share the joy of Christmas and to spread the message of love, peace, and harmony brought by the Nativity of our Lord. The initiative strengthened bonds of goodwill and unity within the wider community.
24-12-2025: Christmas Celebration
On 24th December 2025, Christmas was celebrated in our parish with great joy and devotion. The celebration began with carol singing at 7:30 p.m., filling the church with the spirit of Christmas. The Holy Mass was solemnly celebrated at 8:00 p.m. A beautiful crib was lovingly prepared by the parishioners, reflecting the true meaning of Christ’s birth. The main celebrant was Rev. Fr. Naveen, along with Fr. Sunil and Deacon Joyson. After the solemn Holy Eucharist, cake and Badam milk were distributed to all, spreading joy and fellowship among the faithful.
